There are two main types of stress depending on the duration:

•    Short acute stress. By definition, acute stress reaction is the result of unexpected or traumatic event. It may be extreme, disturbing fear, stress or pain, risk of serious injury. You can be both a victim and a witness. The symptoms usually appear fast, within several minutes of the impact of the stressful stimulus, and disappear within 2–3 days (often within hours), they typically include the state of “daze” – inability to comprehend, disorientation. You have experienced it a plenty of times. For example a car coming out of nowhere and you are almost hit by it, or you try one of the extreme entertainments: parachute jumping, racing etc.

•    Long Chronic stress. It appears because of multiple and oftentimes problems at work, school, relationships, family, finances, and other pressures that are familiar in modern-day world. Reaction is not as sharp as in the first type, but it lasts from weeks to months, or even years. It could be much more problematic.

There are a variety of methods to treat stress, including exercise, stress management, healthy diet, rest, and relaxing hobbies.
