Telogen effluvium. It is a name of the most common hair loss type. Speaking clearly, there are active and passive follicles. Stress can cause a huge number of follicles to turn “off”. So in several months your hair just falls out suddenly. This situation is reversible - the hair grows back after time. Any emotional or physical stress may be a reason for such a reaction.
Sometimes stress can cause another type of hair loss called alopecia areata. In this condition, immune system attacks the follicles. So hair growth stops and soon hair loss starts. It usually begins with a small area but may easily expand to the whole head or even body. The hair typically grows back when the stress is gone, but this can happen for a several times.
If you have noticed a sudden hair loss in your everyday life – consult your physician immediately. It can indicate the urgent necessity for treatment, so don’t wait for the situation to become worse. Doctor will suggest treatment for the hair loss, if it is required.
